I remember going through the old Lhasa Bulletins from the 1980´s, looking at the old dogs, I was astouned about the beauty of the lhasas I saw. I even asked myself “what happened to our breed?”. There was so much type in the 80´s and 90´s! I got myself on a mission to find out if there is any frozen semen from those dogs.

One kennel whose work with Lhasas I admired for many years was Scheel kennel in Denmark, owned by Birte and Kersten Scheels. Even though, they are not breeding anymore, I was adviced by them, there might be frozen semen of one of their dogs in Norway. And luckily, Rune Lysgaard, a well known breeder of Lhasas from the Spinmatic kennel, still had the last 6 straws of the semen left from a dog named Scheel´s Top Priority. I took one look at his pedigree and I was in! Thank you Rune so much for all your help with making this litter possible, all your help and support!

Scheel´s Top Priority, a.k.a. Topper, was co-owned and lived with Annegrete Sidenius Maldal and Frank Maldal who took wonderful care of him and piloted him to all his wonderful successes. They made Topper an International & Danish Champion. He came from a repeated combination which produced some of the Top lhasa apsos in Denmark in the 90´s. Like Ch. Scheel´s Coffee-N-Cream, or BIS Ch. Scheel´s Fame-N-Fortune. Topper´s parents are beautiful examples of the breed and both are wonderful producers.

Scheel´s Top Priority is linebred to one of the most influential lhasas in history Ch. Orlane´s Intrepid. Topper´s grandam is one The one and only Ch. Saxonsprins Fresno, considered the most beautiful lhasa apso by both the modern and old breeders. And of course there is Saxonsprings Hackensack, a beautiful lhasa male of a beautiful type, Crufts BIS winner, too! There are many beautful dogs to live up to. Many dedicated breeders whose whose work I admire, in these pedigrees.

Ch. Scheel´s Coffee-N-Cream, beautiful sister to Topper

We think Topper will be a perfect match for out Bailee, who is a full Orlane bitch herself. The Saxonsprings/Orlane breedings have always produced beautiful animals, full of type, with lots of qualities.
I am very excited that we were able to go back to these beautiful old lines and bring them into the 21st century. Thank you to all the wonderful breeders who helped me to even make this happen. I am very grateful!
